Camila Saenz

Meet Camila Saenz, our intern for Winter Break. Camila is from Mission and attends IDEA Quest College Prep in Edinburg. She’s going to be assisting us with our online blog (from a youth’s perspective), and help us engage more youth to better understand why being informed and educated on the effects of trauma is so important. Camila is dedicated to helping bring awareness to her community on preparedness as a whole, whether it be fire safety, disaster response skills, or mental health awareness. Camila is certified in CPR/First Aid/AED, is part of FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and currently a member of the Texas Youth Preparedness Council. She has taken part in various trainings, which include: Youth Disaster & Emergency Preparedness, Health Science Medical Camps (I, II, and III), and Spring to Service in the Community. In 2008, the Kohl’s Kids Who Care Recognition Program honored Camila for performing good deeds in her community. This recognition came after 8-year-old Camila went out (along with her family) to the hardest hit areas after Hurricane Dolly struck South Texas, and passed out necessities to families who were in need. Camila will definitely be a force to be reckoned with as she continues to grow and expand her knowledge of her communities needs. We are honored that Camila chose us to intern with. We look forward to her time with us and look forward to her growing with us.
